Donovan joins Team Visma | Lease a Bike through 2028

British rider Mark Donovan will join Team Visma | Lease a Bike from 2027 onwards. The 27-year-old has signed a contract with the team that will see him ride in the yellow and black colors through the end of 2028.

Donovan has established himself as a consistent presence in the professional peloton over the past few seasons. His ability to perform across different types of races and terrain has seen him take on a variety of roles, while continuing to develop himself as a rider.

His performances throughout the season have further underlined that versatility. From the opening months of the season onwards, Donovan has consistently competed at a high level, showing his ability to perform in the mountains as well as on more varied terrain. He has also demonstrated that he is comfortable racing aggressively.

For Team Visma | Lease a Bike, Donovan’s arrival adds experience and further depth to the squad. His adaptability and reliabilty will make him a valuable addition to the team during stage races. His climbing ability will see him play an important role in support of the team's leaders, while his strength on difficult stages will also allow him to contribute to controlling the race and positioning the team's sprinters for their opportunities.

For Donovan, the move marks an exciting new chapter in his career. “Team Visma | Lease a Bike is one of the best teams in the world, so when they come and ask you to join the team, there is no need to think twice. I’ve been in the professional peloton for quite some time now and the past few years I’ve been able to develop and find out the type of rider I am, so making the step into this team really feels like the right moment for me and I am really excited to see how much I can develop in this structure and which steps I will be able to take. While being part of a Grand Tour winning team, I hope to be able to continue to show my consistency and hope to add my part in helping the team to win races.”

Mark Donovan

Marc Reef, Head of Racing is pleased to welcome Donovan to the team: “I think Mark will fit very well into the way we approach racing. He has shown in recent seasons that he is a very reliable and versatile rider who can be relied upon in different situations, and he has the ability to perform when the level of the race is high. We see that being particularly valuable for us in stage races, where he can play an important role around our leaders. We also believe there is still some untapped potential that we are excited to develop together, as he is still only 27.”
