Team LottoNL-Jumbo disappoints during World TTT Championship

Team LottoNL-Jumbo finished 7th with a time of 49:10 during the 2017 UCI Road Team Time Trial World Championships. That's 1:20 behind winner Team Sunweb.

High performance manager Mathieu Heijboer said the team wasn't good enough: “It’s disappointing. We started well but we didn't have enough speed when approaching the climbs. Right before, we lost Gijs Van Hoecke. During the ascent, we needed to maintain a consistent tempo. A few riders were riding well within their threshold whilst other were on their limit. At the end of the day, it was the performance gap between riders which led to the result.”

Victor Campenaerts: “The key to a successful race was knowing to hold some effort back during some and attack harder in other places. On some places we needed to ride at a consistent tempo but we couldn't do that. In the end our tempo wasn't high enough during the race.”
