Battaglin again seventh in Switzerland

In the second stage of the Tour of Switzerland, Enrico Battaglin has finished in seventh place. During yesterday’s stage he also came in seventh.

An early breakaway made it a relatively quiet race day. Only the rain made it more hectic. In the final kilometres before the finish, it became clear that the winner was going to be determined by a bunch sprint.

Sports Director Addy Engels looked back on a good, but stressful day. “This was mainly due to the rain. We therefore decided to bring Enrico and Steven Kruijswijk forward as good as possible for the final climb. That went well. The finish was almost a copy of yesterday’s.”

For tomorrow, Engels doesn’t expect any surprises. “In itself it’s not a super tricky day. But for the first time this race, there’s a somewhat longer climb in the final, though it’s not long enough to flip the general classification upside down.”
