Bennett maintains position in California

Bennett maintains position in California

The third stage of the Tour of California has not caused any shifts in the top of the general classification. George Bennett remains tenth overall.

Two riders made the race. There were no problems for Bennett in the reduced peloton.

“We got through the day really well”, Grischa Niermann explained. “The beginning was a bit stressful when twenty riders got away in the crosswinds, including Danny and Bert-Jan. But they didn’t get away because Rohan Dennis was still well-placed in the overall standings. After the group was taken back, two guys eventually got away and gained a maximum lead of more than ten minutes. In the end it was enough for one of them to take the stage win. In the peloton there was no organisation and no team that wanted to or was willing to organise the chase. They only really rode on the toughest climb of the day in the peloton. George was very attentive and well surrounded by Floris and Neilson.”
