Bennett stands his ground and finishes sixth in Paris-Nice

George Bennett has finished sixth in Paris-Nice. The leader of Team Jumbo-Visma finished the final stage in and around Nice among the favourites.

In the short and tough stage with no less than six climbs, the peloton raced from the start. Bennett maintained himself fairly easily in the group with final winner Egon Bernal.

Sports director Nico Verhoeven looked back on this week with a good feeling. “Today went as we had hoped. George managed to gain another place overall. From the start, they went full throttle and the best riders remained at the front. Sixth in this field and at WorldTour level is just good. We came here to win one stage but we won two. In addition, we had the yellow and the green jersey for a few days. And we also succeeded in finishing in the top ten with George. We can look back on a week that was more than successful.”
