Lindeman animates Tour de Suisse’s third stage

Bert-Jan Lindeman has animated the third stage in the Tour of Switzerland. The Dutchman was part of the early breakaway that was reeled in in the last ten kilometres. Eventually, the stage finished in a bunch sprint.

In the relatively flat stage to Murten, a leading group of four riders, including Team Jumbo-Visma’s Lindeman, got established early on in the stage. They got a maximum lead of just over 3.5 minutes, but were caught by the sprinter teams in the final.

“It was fun to be part of the breakaway”, Lindeman explained. “I also tried it a few times yesterday, but it didn’t work out then. I felt good today and I had a great time. Unfortunately, we were given too little space to stay ahead. When the opportunity arises, I will definitely try again.”

Sports director Sierk Jan de Haan concurred with Lindeman. “The plan was to be in the breakaway with Bert-Jan or Taco today. The first attempt was the right one. Unfortunately, they never got the space because it was one of the few sprinters’ chances. So they were constantly in control. We will definitely try again this week.”
