Maas starts internship at Team LottoNL-Jumbo

The talented cyclist Jan Maas is going to start an internship at Team LottoNL-Jumbo. He will be part of the team for the rest of the season. The young Dutch climber will start in the Tour of Utah and the Colorado Classic.

The 22-year-old cyclist from SEG Racing Academy is going to start his internship with a training camp in Kühtai, Austria. There, George Bennett, Danny van Poppel and Jos van Emden, amongst others, will prepare for the second half of the season.

Maas is happy with this chance. “I worked hard for this. It’s nice to get the recognition of such a big team.” In August, he will travel with the team to the United States to ride races. “For my development, it’s good to measure myself on a higher level in an even more professional environment. I’m proud that I’ll ride in the cycling kit of Team LottoNL-Jumbo during the upcoming months.”

According to Sports Director Merijn Zeeman, Maas attracted attention because of his development as a climber. “Besides that, he shows he can support his teammates when needed. This internship gives us a chance to get to know him better. As a rider, but also as a human being.”
