No podium for Team LottoNL-Jumbo in Turin

The 97th edition of Milan - Turin did not provide Team LottoNL-Jumbo with a top classification. Finishing twentieth, Steven Kruijswijk was the best-ranked rider. The course that is seen as a preparation for Il Lombardia of next Saturday was marked by a long escape. Once the escapees were caught, several riders tried to attack. In the end, Rigoberto Uran was the first to cross the line.

Team leader Addy Engels indicated this scenario in advance. “We expected an escape that would be controlled by the peloton for a long time. After the escapees were caught, it became a hard course. Especially during the climb of the Superga. For Steven Kruijswijk it was his first test after the Vuelta, leading up to Il Lombardia of Saturday. Today he was not good enough yet, but the Tour of Lombardy is better for him. We are heading there with confidence", Engels said.
