No top classification for attractive Team LottoNL-Jumbo in Eurometropole Tour

Team LottoNL-Jumbo returns home without a prize after the Eurometropole Tour. Amund Grondhal Jansen finished tenth, while Timo Roosen, Maarten Wynants and Alexey Vermeulen were also part of the first group. Daniel McClay sprinted to the win.

The whole race the team rode very attractively. With thirty kilometres to go, Grondahl Jansen escaped from the peloton with some other riders, but the gap didn’t last. Later, a breakaway appeared containing four Team LottoNL-Jumbo riders. Roosen attacked two kilometres from the finish line. He didn’t get any space and the race ended in a sprint.

Roosen: “It was a hard race. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a good result. The wind was pretty strong and the course was hilly. Some of our guys, like Amund and Alexey, tried to escape until the final breakaway had been formed. We constantly attacked, but the direction of the wind was not in our advantage. We raced for the win. Everyone was on point, that’s all we could do.”
