Preview OVO Energy Tour of Britain (07/09 – 14/09)

The OVO Energy Tour of Britain will start saturday in the Scottish city of Glasgow. There are seven stages which will guide to riders to the final finish in the streets of Manchester.

A year ago Team Jumbo-Visma grabbed the victory in the team time trial at Whinlatter Pass. That was a good base for Primoz Roglic to claim a third spot in the final general classification. This year, the team would like to battle for stage wins. Dylan Groenewegen should be able to do a good job in the possible bunch sprints.

‘’We are going to this race with high expectations. The Tour of Britain is a race that suits us, we’ve had a lot of successes in the past years. Of course we would like to repeat that. We have a lot of riders who can battle for the stage wins. The general classification is less important but with Mike Teunissen and Amund Jansen, who are in a good form, we can try to make a big impression. Moreover, we also have riders with us who can score in the individual time trial’’, tells sports director Jan Boven.

Groenewegen will make his return to the peloton after a period of relative calm. ‘’His condition is on a good level. He did a few tough training sessions. Dylan will show again that he can win bunch sprints, we will go for that.”
