In the Basque Country, Laurens De Plus can show his good Tour form once again. Riders like George Bennett, Koen Bouwman and Sepp Kuss will help him. In London, former wearer of the yellow jersey Mike Teunissen and Amund Jansen are part of the line-up.

Robert Gesink about his comeback: “The recovery took a long time, but everything went as good as possible. It was of course a lot of work: from walking with crutches to cycling with one leg because the other leg lost its control. Step by step I came back to my old level and I’m ready to race again. I’m looking forward to the Vuelta a España in particular and hope to get race rhythm.”

Sportive director Merijn Zeeman about Clásica San Sebastián: “This one day race is known for its many climbs. We have to make sure Laurens starts them in a good position. For the riders, except Laurens and George, it’s the first race after a long period of training. They have to help Laurens as good as possible.”
