Race preview Santos Tour Down Under

Team Jumbo-Visma is preparing for the first World Tour race of the season. In Australia, the twenty-second edition of the Santos Tour Down Under is on the program from Tuesday.

Team Jumbo-Visma starts in Tanunda with seven riders who, according to sports director Addy Engels, are all in good shape. “We are ready for the start. During the Saturday criterium, the riders can get used to riding in the peloton again. George Bennett starts as the team leader. We want to book a good result with him in the classification. ”

Engels expects stages three and six to be decisive. “Stage three ends with a short steep climb of one and a half kilometers to Paracombe. According to the tradition, the Willunga Hill will make the classification in the final stage. We have to be attentive and always keep our classification riders in front. ”

The sports director emphasizes that Timo Roosen can go for his own chance in the sprint. “The ascending finish in Stirling should suit him well. Timo gets a free role in the bunch sprints. Taco van der Hoorn can assist him with the lead-out. "
