Roosen concludes Gree-Tour of Guangxi with third place

Timo Roosen has finished his season well. In the Gree-Tour of Guangxi he finished third in the sprint of the last stage. Antwan Tolhoek retained his fourth place in the general classification.

Five attackers got a few minutes in the opening phase of today’s race. The control of the sprinter teams was always there. The hilly zone in the middle of the stage did not change that situation much. The pace went up in the last kilometres. Roosen managed to put himself in a good postion through good work from his teammates and sprinted to third place in Guilin. Pascal Ackermann won the last stage.

Today’s sprint suited Roosen. “Bert-Jan Lindeman and Taco van der Hoorn did a great job. I was in a in perfect position and I was the first of the sprinters to take the last turn. This sprint suited me better than the previous one, the ones ridden at a very high speed. I had chances in the sprint before, but this time it worked out well. I’m heading into the winter season with a good feeling.”

Tolhoek is happy that he retained his fourth place in the general classification. “The final was dangerous due to the wet roads. Fortunately, I reached the finish without any problems. The team worked hard for me in recent days. I am very grateful to my teammates for this. It is nice to see that we, as a team, are still competing for the win in the last race of the season.”

Sports director Addy Engels was a satisfied man after the Gree-Tour of Guangxi. “It was great that Timo did a good job in the sprint. Antwan’s performance is also strong: his first top five in a World Tour stage race. A great final race of a fantastic season. I saw a very motivated team here.”
