Roosen sprints to eighth place in Québec

Roosen sprints to eighth place in Québec

For the second year in a row, Timo Roosen has finished in the top ten in the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec. On the tough circuit through the Canadian metropolis, the Dutchman, who finished fourth last year, sprinted to eighth place. Just like last year, the victory was for the Australian Michael Matthews.

The city circuit, with the necessary climbs along the way, had to be conquered fifteen times. After the early breakaway was caught in the final, Timo Roosen was kept in front by his Team Jumbo-Visma teammates. Roosen started the sprint from afar and finished strongly.

“The legs felt good today”, Roosen said. “It all went very well, especially on the climbs. I felt good all day and I focused on my sprint. Tom Leezer positioned me well on the climbs. Jonas Vingegaard was also very strong by covering all the attacks in the final. In the last kilometre I was in Matthews’s wheel. Just before the sprint started, I got a bit boxed in. That’s why I had to sprint a bit through the wind. To be honest, I didn’t have the sprint for a much better result either. The team was very good today and I am happy with the confirmation of my good shape. Onto Sunday.” Then the peloton will lineup for the GP Montreal.
