Team Jumbo-Visma as leader to final Hammer Stavanger

Team Jumbo-Visma as leader to final Hammer Stavanger

Team Jumbo-Visma heads into the Hammer Chase, the final of the Hammer Series in Stavanger, as the leader. The day after the Hammer Climb victory, the team of Frans Maassen did not have an easy day in the Hammer Sprint. The team finished sixth and scored enough points to keep the overall lead after two of the three events.

Team Jumbo-Visma will be the first team to start the Hammer Chase, half a minute ahead of the nearest competitor. The other teams will then have to chase the team. The squad that crosses the finish line first, wins the Hammer Series Stavanger.

“It was a tough race”, Amund Jansen explained. “From the start, it went really fast. In the beginning Mike and Dylan gathered the necessary points. At one point, the peloton broke into two parts. Due to this, both Mike and Dylan were no longer in a position to continue scoring points. That was a pity for us, because they are our two fastest riders. This happened again after Maarten and I had gathered points. In the end, only Pascal had the legs to join the leaders. He did an excellent job. We will have to go full throttle again tomorrow. We are leading Hammer Stavanger and we want to defend and keep our lead.”
