Team LottoNL-Jumbo active in difficult stage of Tour de Pologne

The riders of Team LottoNL-Jumbo gave their best in a difficult third stage of the Tour de Pologne. First of all, the team was represented in the breakaway for a third consecutive day, this time in the person of Bert-Jan Lindeman. Due to the fast pace in the peloton, the leading group was caught early in the race. Eventually, Dylan Teuns won the stage. Daan Olivier had been going strong for a long time and finished 22nd at 46 seconds of stage winner Teuns.

After Keizer’s two days of attacking it was Bert-Jan Lindeman’s turn today. The 28-year-old rider managed to take a lead with seven riders, but they didn’t get much space. “It was very difficult to be in the breakaway. When Bert-Jan was in the leading group, it soon turned out that it would be very hard to stay ahead”, sports director Grischa Niermann said afterwards.

Team LottoNL-Jumbo also lost the KOM-jersey, but in the end Daan Olivier finished well. “I’m in very good shape”, concluded Olivier after his 22nd place. “I had a very hard time at the penultimate climb and especially on the last climb, but I’m glad I finished well. It gives me hope for the coming days.”

Nevertheless, sports director Niermann looked back with mixed feelings. “Floris De Tier crashed hard early in the stage. He managed to finish the stage, but the crash wasn’t nice at all. On the other hand, I’m pleased with the performances of Bert-Jan and Daan. Hopefully, we will be also able to race actively the coming days.”
