Team LottoNL-Jumbo sails smoothly through Tour of Britain's third stage

Team LottoNL-Jumbo survived the Tour of Britain's third stage, which ended with a reduced peloton sprinting for the win. The team played no major role, but sailed smoothly through the day that saw Primoz Roglic gain a spot in the overall classification.

Jos van Emden finished first for the team in 13th place. Roglic jumped up to eighth place overall.

In the short but very fast stage starting and ending in Bristol, it took a long time before a leading group with Pascal Eenkhoorn to form. Maarten Wynants also attacked several times. The group with Eenkhoorn, however, was eventually chased down. Team LottoNL-Jumbo was well-positioned on the final climb and finished with Roglic, Van Emden, Powless and Eenkhoorn in the first peloton.

"It was a fast, a spectacular stage. It never stopped for a moment," Sports Director Jan Boven said. "They raced at a very high speed all day long. In the end, it was important to start the short steep final climb in the front. A group of only 40 riders remained, which included four of our riders. "

Koen Bouwman had to be stitched up after the finish yesterday. "He came through the day well," added Boven. "Koen had some problems with the knee after his crash, but hopefully it will improve in the coming days."
