Tour de France takes its toll in Clásica San Sebastian

After the successful Tour de France, the Clásica San Sebastian was less successful for Team LottoNL-Jumbo. The team had two leaders in the race with the New Zealander George Bennett and the Slovenian Primoz Roglic. However, for both riders the race came too early after the Tour de France. Primoz Roglic was Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s best rider at the 21st place.

Sports director Addy Engels had hoped for more. “During the Tour de France, Bennett and Roglic were in excellent shape. However, Bennett had to leave the race early and also Roglic coped with some difficulties. The race tooks its toll in the Clásica San Sebastian today. We were simply not good enough”, he said afterwards.

Nevertheless, the team already looks forward to the coming races. “This race came too early after the Tour de France. It demanded too much of us. Unfortunately, this was not our best race, but there are still some nice races to come.”
