Danny van Poppel hasn’t waited for the sprint in the final stage of the Giro d’Italia. The sprinter of Team LottoNL-Jumbo found himself in a late breakaway with amongst others the time trialists Tony Martin and Ryan Mullen. The breakaway was caught in the last five kilometres. Partly because the timing was stopped after the third local lap, there were no changes in the overall classification. Team leader George Bennett finished in eighth place.
