Vingegaard ninth overall in Deutschland Tour

Vingegaard ninth overall in Deutschland Tour

Jonas Vingegaard has finished the Deutschland Tour in ninth place overall. It is the second top ten place for the young Danish rider in a stage race this year. Last week he finished second in the Tour of Denmark. The final stage to Erfurt ended in a sprint with a reduced group. Timo Roosen finished in eleventh place.

The final stage opened up in the final, when the peloton was split apart due to the wind. For Team Jumbo-Visma, Roosen and Vingegaard were in the first group.

"It has been a good week", Vingegaard said. "I am very happy with my ninth place in such a strong peloton and also on such a fast course. The team has done a good job for me."

"Jonas has again delivered a great performance," Merijn Zeeman explained. “As a first years professional, to finish again in the top ten overall one week after finishing second in Denmark is really good and pure class. The team has worked really hard today and the rest of the week to get this done. Today was a tough stage with a lot of climbing and in the end a lot of wind. You really had to be careful not to drop out of the echelon. That was a big fight. Timo has also ridden a very good week with two top ten placings. He shows that he is on the way back."
