Fan Peloton talk: 'I have admired Wout for a very long time'
In our column ‘Fan Peloton talk’, we put members of the Fan Peloton in the spotlight. Who are they, why do they feel connected to Team Visma | Lease a Bike and who is their favourite rider? In this episode, we have a chat with Nancy Segers.

Why did you decide to join Team Visma | Lease a Bike’s Fan Peloton?
"I've always been interested in cycling, but ever since Wout van Aert joined the team, I’ve been following them closely. That’s when I decided to sign up for the Fan Peloton."
Have you ever attended an event?
"So far, I’ve been to the HPC in Den Bosch twice. The first time was in May last year, when my friend and I got a tour. It was amazing to see all the bikes, the buses, and everything else up close. The second time we were there was during stage 13 of the Giro d’Italia, which Wout narrowly missed winning. Both day's were fantastic."
What do you enjoy most about being a member?
"I love that we get access to photos and videos that other people don’t get to see. The invitations to events and the discounts are also great perks. As a Fan Peloton member, you get 15% off all products in the webshop. I’ve already bought almost everything from this year’s collection — except for the cushion! I don’t own any cycling clothing, though, because due to my disability, I’m unable to ride a bike."

Why are you a fan of the team?
"First and foremost because of the riders. They’re all incredibly talented, and with Matthew Brennan, the team has one of the biggest young prospects in the sport. What I also really like is the family atmosphere within the team. As a Fan Peloton member, you truly feel like you’re part of it."
Who are your favourite riders?
"Wout and Victor Campenaerts. I’ve admired Wout for a very long time — he’s an amazing rider and always conducts himself so respectfully with the media. He suffered two major crashes during the 2023/2024 season, at Dwars door Vlaanderen and the Vuelta. The way he fought his way back after that is something I deeply admire.
I was also a big fan of Nathan Van Hooydonck. It was heartbreaking to read about his accident and early retirement — I actually cried when I found out. I really appreciate how the team supported him through that difficult time."
If you could ask Wout or Victor one question, what would it be?
"I’d love to ask Wout what motivated him to reach the very top. And I’d ask Victor why he decided to return to Team Visma | Lease a Bike."
When did your passion for cycling begin?
"My love for cycling started back in the 1990s, during the days of Johan Museeuw. I loved watching the Tour de France — it was always one of the highlights of the year for me. Nowadays, I watch almost every race, and whenever Team Visma | Lease a Bike is competing, I get just that little bit more excited."
How could the Fan Peloton membership be even better, in your opinion?
"I’m not sure how many members there are in total, but I think it would be fantastic if we could all meet once a year to attend a race together. I’d love to meet the other fans in person and get to know them better. And one more thing — I’d really love to have Wout van Aert’s autograph!"
