AWV De Zwaluwen takes a step up within Team Jumbo-Visma Koers

AWV De Zwaluwen takes a step up within Team Jumbo-Visma Koers

As of today, AWV De Zwaluwen from the Dutch city of Almelo can call itself the polka dot jersey partner of Team Jumbo-Visma. Together with the Dutch cycling team, AWV de Zwaluwen will try to realise its great ambitions.

After TWC Maaslandster Zuid-Limburg and ARC Ulysses, the cycling club from the Dutch city of Almelo is the third partner club at the polka dot jersey level within Team Jumbo-Visma Koers.

Head of Community of Team Jumbo-Visma Academy Jaap van Hulten is looking forward to an intensified cooperation with AWV De Zwaluwen. “De Zwaluwen is one of the leading cycling clubs in the Netherlands. They have been training young riders for the higher levels of cycling for years. In addition, they have established a structure in the east of the country with all kinds of cycling disciplines. The club wants to create a greater unity and has great ambitions, and that really appeals to us. That is why we are now promoting the club to the polka dot jersey.”

"Youth riders are looking for a stable basis and we can help them with that"

Philip Kootstra

Philip Kootstra, president of AWV De Zwaluwen, is proud of the step his club is taking. “Together with Team Jumbo-Visma we will continue to look for ways to strengthen each other in the coming years. Youth riders are looking for a stable basis and we can help them with that. In the past we have delivered many riders to the semi-pros and professionals. From the U17 and U19 category on, we try to give the riders a thorough training and that pays off. In addition, we are also trying to attract young people to cycling in collaboration with the Academy.”
