Team Jumbo-Visma enables fans to own cycling history

Together with Europe’s leading special objects platform, Catawiki, Team Jumbo-Visma have prepared an auction to sell 24 pieces of cycling history for any cycling fan to own. These fans most probably witnessed the thrilling Mont Ventoux stage during the Tour de France. They have then been looking at a bicycle that’s for sale now. The Cervélo that brought Wout van Aert his legendary win is now for sale on ownhistory.bike.

Van Aert on his unique victory: “That win on the Mont Ventoux is still one of my dearest memories to date. An emotional day on which I look back with goosebumps all over.”

In total there will be 24 unique bicycles for auction. Amongst others the Cervélo S5 of Primoz Roglic that brought him victory in La Vuelta a España, Jonas Vingegaard’s S5 from the 2nd place in the General Classification of Le Tour de France, the winning bike of Marianne Vos during Gent-Wevelgem or the comeback-bike of Tom Dumoulin. These pieces of history will be available for everybody to own through the website: ownhistory.bike.

Catawiki’s Senior Sports Memorabilia Expert, Wouter Waaijers, says: “At Catawiki we're all about helping users find their next treasure. Offering these 24 unique bikes - including the winning bike of Wout van Aert, fresh from his double ascent of Mont Ventoux - will allow our passionate audience the chance to own a piece of cycling history. With rising user interest in sports memorabilia on our platform, we can't wait for this auction to begin.”

Proceeds of the auction will go to the further development of cycling talent. The team already has an infrastructure in place with the Team Jumbo-Visma Academy, the Development Team and the new national initiative CyclingClassNL. With these activities Team Jumbo-Visma has an important role stimulating future cycling talents.

Director Richard Plugge of Team Jumbo-Visma sees the auction as an excellent instrument to help cycling talents move forward. “At Team Jumbo-Visma we’re engaged in many initiatives supporting cycling talents to flourish. Think of our Academy, the talents of our Development Team and of course the new initiative CyclingClassNL in which we participate as a cycling team. That is how we truly contribute to the future of Dutch cycling and this auction enables us to take the next step.”
