Team Visma | Lease a Bike strengthens its team of nutrition experts

Team Visma | Lease a Bike has appointed Søren Lavrsen as the new Lead Performance Nutritionist. The 51-year-old Dane previously worked for the elite sports organization Team Denmark. In addition, Cas Fuchs, a university lecturer in the Department of Human Biology at Maastricht University, will join the team as a scientific expert.

Following the vacancy of these positions, Team Visma | Lease a Bike has taken the time to find top-level experts in the field of nutrition. With the appointment of Søren, this key role within the team is now filled. On top of that, Cas brings scientific expertise and will be involved with the team in that capacity.

Mathieu Heijboer, Head of Performance: “I am very pleased that Søren is joining our team of nutrition experts. He brings a wealth of expertise and experience in elite sports, exactly what we’re looking for to take our team to the next level. In modern cycling, nutrition is a key factor in achieving top performances. That’s why I’m also thrilled that we can add Cas Fuchs to the team as a scientific expert. With Cas on board, we ensure that the latest scientific insights are directly accessible to our team.”

Søren Lavrsen: “This felt like a new challenge and an opportunity to work with a WorldTour team in professional cycling. To me, this team represents top-level professionalism while maintaining a human touch. I’m looking forward to getting started with all the knowledge and expertise that’s present here.”

Cas Fuchs: “This is a great step for me, bridging the gap between science and practice. I conduct a lot of research on sports and nutrition and also teach about it at Maastricht University. I’ll be able to bring the latest scientific insights to the team and, conversely, take real-world experiences back into new scientific research.”
