Italian hunger not yet satisfied

After his brilliant victory in Strade Bianche, Wout van Aert will start in Milano-Torino and Milano-Sanremo. Milano-Torino normally counts as a preparation race for Il Lombardia, but it has changed into a final rehearsal for ‘La Primavera’ because of the new race calendar.

Last year, Van Aert finished sixth in Milan-Sanremo. That tastes like more. “I can have confidence with these legs. Certainly with such a victory under my belt, I can race more freely. That is an advantage. With or without a victory in Strade Bianche, other riders would have watched me anyway.”

The race can’t start soon enough for the Belgian rider. “Bring on Milano-Sanremo. We had to wait long for a race. We have to try to receive good results in every race.”
