Team Visma | Lease a Bike ready for Liège-Bastogne-Liège

The fourth monument of the season is just around the corner. This Sunday, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, one of the oldest cycling classics, is on the calendar. Team Visma | Lease a Bike heads to La Doyenne with ambition. We look ahead with sports director Maarten Wynants.

Liège-Bastogne-Liège will hold its 112th edition this Sunday. The historic race covers 260 kilometers and features more than 4,000 meters of elevation gain. In the finale, climbs such as the Côte de la Redoute and the Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons traditionally serve as key points. La Doyenne marks the ending of the spring classics period.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike saw team leader Matteo Jorgenson forced to abandon the Amstel Gold Race. The 26-year-old American broke his collarbone and is currently working on his recovery. Ben Tulett’s third place in La Flèche Wallonne was a bright spot for the yellow-and-black squad.

"in La Flèche Wallonne, Ben showed that he’s now hitting good form"

Maarten Wynants

Sports director Maarten Wynants looks ahead to the fourth Monument of the season: “After the Amstel Gold Race, we had to adjust our plans. Matteo had fully focused on this race, but unfortunately his spring campaign already came to an end last Sunday. Ben also had to miss the Amstel Gold Race after a crash at Itzulia Basque Country. However, last Wednesday in La Flèche Wallonne he showed that he’s now hitting good form.”

“We’re lining up with confidence,” Wynants continues. “The riders are motivated to make something of it. Liège-Bastogne-Liège is one of the most important and most beautiful races of the season. The field is of a very high level, but we’ll do everything we can to show ourselves. We hope to achieve a strong result with Ben."
