Fidanza triumphs in chaotic final stage of Baloise Ladies Tour, Vigié finishes fourth overall

Martina Fidanza sprinted to victory in the final stage of the Baloise Ladies Tour. The Italian was perfectly positioned by Nienke Veenhoven before launching an impressive sprint to claim the win. This marks Fidanza’s third victory of the season. Margaux Vigié secured fourth place in the overall classification.

From early on in the last stage of the Baloise Ladies Tour, all eyes were on the finale, where a bunch sprint was inevitable. On the streets of Zwevegem, Fidanza was well set up by her teammates after a chaotic finale, delivering Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women their eleventh win of the season.

“It was quite an unusual sprint,” Fidanza said afterwards. “Due to a big crash with five kilometers to go, the peloton split apart, and I wasn’t at the front right away. My teammates did an amazing job bringing me back to the front group.”

It was then Veenhoven who gave Fidanza the perfect lead-out. “Nienke was fantastic in the final kilometer. This is a very important and beautiful victory for me. The plan was for both Nienke and me to sprint this week, and the fact that we both managed to win is really great,” the 25-year-old Italian concluded.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women ended the stage race with Vigié in fourth overall, with Veenhoven taking seventh. A good team performance after a successful week with two stage wins.
