Harper shows fighting spirit with attack in final stage Tour of Burgos

Chris Harper has shown his fighting spirit in the final stage of the Tour of Burgos. The Australian of Team Jumbo-Visma attacked on the final climb, but his attempt failed three kilometres from the finish.

"We wanted to do everything we could to get Chris in the breakaway”, sports director Robert Wagner said. In the end, that didn't work out and the team, and thus Wagner, quickly changed plans. "Unfortunately, Chris had to change bikes at an unfortunate moment and did not make it to the breakaway. However, Robert and Edoardo did, which was a good situation for us. But that group didn't manage to stay away either, unfortunately."

"On the final climb, Chris wanted to go for it"

From the car, Wagner could see that his team's attacking spirit still hadn’t waned. “On the final climb, Chris wanted to go for it. He attacked with seven kilometres to go but was eventually caught. He tried to get everything out of it.”
