Team Jumbo-Visma misses out on place of honour in Brabantse Pijl

Despite several attacks, the riders of Team Jumbos Visma Women have not succeeded in achieving a top ranking in the Brabantse Pijl. Coryn Labecki finished in the top twenty after a tough race in rainy conditions. Winner Demi Vollering arrived solo in Overijse.

From the start in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, many riders tried to get in the day's breakaway. Team Jumbo-Visma got involved with Aafke Soet.

Because no breakaway group emerged, Amber Kraak went off alone before the start of the final. The winner of the Volta Limburg Classic never got much space and was caught by the active peloton. On the Hertstraat, Moskesstraat and Holstheide climbs, the strong riders made the difference. Labecki and Karlijn Swinkels were still in the final, but they could not get to the front of the race despite their best efforts.

Race coach Lieselot Decroix: "The idea was to ride offensively. Amber had a nice attempt before the final started. After that, attack after attack followed and we had to spend a lot of energy to come back. In an ultimate attempt, Coryn tried to get in front but just couldn't. The effort took a lot of strength and she wasn't able to take a place of honour in the sprint."
