Team Jumbo-Visma not able to excel in queen stage Deutschland Tour

Team Jumbo-Visma has not been able to play a significant role in the queen stage of the Tour of Germany. The uphill finish proved too tricky for the riders of the yellow and black formation.

"You always hope for more, but this climb is very challenging. The guys reached the top in the position where they belong”, sports director Arthur van Dongen said. Gijs Leemreize, who finished in 21st place, was the first Team Jumbo-Visma rider to cross the finish line.

Everything went according to plan up to the last climb, according to Van Dongen. "Tosh and Mick ensured Gijs was in an excellent position to begin the final climb. There, the race exploded pretty quickly. Lars and Tobias were able to stay with Gijs. Unfortunately, some of them were better today.

Tomorrow the final stage is on the programme. "The last stage has a tricky course. We will try to ride a good final stage."
