Team Jumbo-Visma without problems to queen stage Deutschland Tour

Team Jumbo-Visma has not been able to participate in the battle for the stage win in the Deutschland Tour but still has three riders in the top ten of the general classification. It was a sprint to the finish for the remaining riders in the thinned-out pack as attacks marked the German race’s longest stage.

Mick van Dijke regained the white jersey he already wore earlier this race. “It’s great to wear the youth jersey again, but I wanted to win today.” In the second stage, the Dutch rider maintained a position near the front and was even in a breakaway group. “We had a nice lead, but the peloton caught up with us. Then I had to sprint for the win, but I had a small problem with my chain. That’s a shame, but taking the white jersey is still nice.”

"Great to wear the youth jersey again tomorrow"

Mick van Dijke

Van Dijke feels optimistic about his team’s chances in tomorrow’s queen stage. “We will support Gijs Leemreize to achieve a good result, so we have a chance at a good general classification. I would have liked to have won a stage myself, but tomorrow will be too tough for me. I anticipate losing the white jersey, but I will enjoy the stage.” Van Dijke is currently fifth in the general classification. With Tobias Foss (eighth) and Boven (ninth), Team Jumbo-Visma still has three riders in the top ten.
