Teunissen third on the podium at Tour of Denmark

Teunissen third on the podium at Tour of Denmark

Mike Teunissen’s sixth place in the time trial has resulted in third place in the general classification of the Tour of Denmark. On the final day of the Scandinavian stage race, the Dutch rider capitalized on his strong performance that he displayed throughout the race. Edoardo Affini recorded the fourth time in the race against the clock.

Teunissen eventually became sixth in the time trial. Affini was the fastest man for a long time, but three riders managed to beat him. Tim van Dijke also set a respectable time. The rider of Team Jumbo-Visma Academy finished the time trial in eleventh place.

"I think I made the most of it."

Mike Teunissen

Teunissen was a satisfied man. “This is definitely a good result. I came here with the intention to help Dylan in the sprint. On the first day we had a nice success. This week we had the chance to go for a top classification. I think I made the most of it. Third place behind two strong guys is something I can certainly live with. This tastes like more.”

"I feel that I am approaching a good form. It is now a matter of putting the finishing touches."

Edoardo Affini

Affini, who finished his race against the clock on a wet surface, unlike his competitors, looked back with mixed feelings. “I feel like I rode hard. The weather conditions were not in my favour today. I definitely don’t want to use it as an excuse. The Tour of Denmark was my first race after altitude training. I feel that I am approaching a good form. It is now a matter of putting the finishing touches. I am close to a good result in the time trials. I am convinced that there is still something in it for me”, the motivated Italian said.

"We can look back on a great week here in Denmark."

Jan Boven

“We can look back on a great week here in Denmark”, sports director Jan Boven added. “In stage one we were already successful with Dylan. After that we competed for the day’s victory almost every day. This resulted in the third place for Mike in the general classification. The guys of our Development Team showed themselves in their best way as well. We conclude this week with a good feeling.”
