Top ten places for Leemreize and Harper in final classification of Sibiu Tour

Top ten places for Leemreize and Harper in final classification of Sibiu Tour

The final day of the Sibiu Tour has produced top ten places in the general classification for Team Jumbo-Visma. Gijs Leemreize finished the Romanian stage race in fifth place, Chris Harper finished ninth.

The final day consisted of a morning and an afternoon stage. The morning stage was a 12-kilometre climbing time trial. In the time trial, Harper finished sixth and Leemreize ninth.

After the time trial, the riders had another stage in line, which was won by one of the breakaway riders. David Dekker was the fastest of the bunch in the narrow streets of Sibiu and finished eighth.

"It was a shame, but sometimes it goes like this”, sports director Addy Engels referred to today's afternoon stage. "We certainly played our part in the chase, but we can't solve it alone. In principle, we could have closed the gap. That's the game you play."

"We go home with a good feeling"

Addy Engels

This morning Engels saw his riders ride a climbing time trial. "I think it's where those guys belong at the moment. The first three stand out a lot. Behind them comes the group that includes Gijs and Chris”, Engels said.

The sports director looked back on a beautiful week. "We go home with a good feeling. Tim won the prologue, but the whole team was strong in the prologue. We finished among the first ten in every stage. We made our mark in both the sprints and the mountain stages. It's been good for our guys’ development to be able to race like this for a change."
