Van Dijke, Foss and Boven strong in prologue Deutschland Tour

Mick van Dijke and Tobias Foss have finished in the top ten in the prologue of the Deutschland Tour. In Weimar, the riders of Team Jumbo-Visma finished fourth and ninth, respectively. Lars Boven became eleventh. Olav Kooij rode a difficult stage. He crashed during his race against the clock. World champion Filippo Ganna took the win.

For a long time, Van Dijke had set his sights on a podium place. "I'm happy with how I rode my prologue. I haven't ridden one often, so I was waiting to see how it would go. The task is simple over such a short distance: just ride towards the finish line as fast as possible."

"I also get to wear the white jersey."

When compared to the other famous names on the list, Van Dijke's fourth-place finish is even more impressive. "I am among guys who have already achieved a lot. Even though I didn't get on the podium, it makes me proud. And I also get to wear the junior jersey."

Kooij crashed during his prologue after a sharp turn. The unfortunate sprinter could continue his way to the finish but had to have his injuries to his buttock stitched up. Because Kooij had the fastest time at the intermediate point, he grabs the mountain jersey.
