Vigié fourth in second stage of Simac Ladies Tour

Vigié fourth in second stage of Simac Ladies Tour

After finishing fifth in the opening stage, Margaux Vigié once again placed among the best in stage two of the Simac Ladies Tour. The French rider crossed the line in Gennep in fourth place. Lorena Wiebes claimed the victory.

The second stage both started and finished in the Limburg town of Gennep. The riders had to stay alert for crosswinds along the route. About sixty kilometers from the finish, the peloton split apart, with a group of eleven riders breaking away from the rest.

Vigié was part of that group. Their lead held steady for a long time and gradually increased, which meant the stage would be decided in a sprint. Vigié showed her ambition in the finale but had to settle for fourth place.

"Margaux is in very good shape"

Jan Boven

“It was very tricky today”, said sports director Jan Boven. “There were some exposed sections along the course, and one of them turned out to be decisive. We saw the split happening from the team car, and Margaux was alert enough to be there. She’s been in very good shape recently, so we gave her the trust. She launched her own sprint at the end and finished fourth. That’s a strong result.”
