Jansen fifth in London after strong race by Team Jumbo-Visma

Amund Grøndahl Jansen has just finished outside the podium at the Mall in London in the Prudential RideLondon Classic. The Norwegian champion was well-positioned for the bunch sprint after a strong lead-out by Mike Teunissen and finished fifth.

Team Jumbo-Visma was very strong during the race. Pascal Eenkhoorn was in the early breakaway of three riders who were given a maximum lead of three and a half minutes. At the local circuit around Box Hill, Teunissen handled the necessary attacks before he put in a counter-attack. In the end, both Teunissen and Eenkhoorn were reeled in during the last thirty kilometres. In the final, Team Jumbo-Visma was still represented by the entire team.

Jansen was pleased with the work of his team. “The guys really did a great job for me in the final. Mike’s lead-out was very strong, but unfortunately, I couldn’t go any faster in the last few metres. I also got stuck between Bennett and the barriers, which forced me to slow down a little as I had to pull my brakes. All in all, it was a good final and the team was very strong.”
