Disappointing start for Team Jumbo-Visma in Tour of Norway

The riders of Team Jumbo-Visma have not been able to play a significant role in the first stage of the Tour of Norway. In the opening stage from Stavanger to Egersund, Taco van der Hoorn tried to position himself for the bunch sprint, but he wasn’t able to sprint for a good result.

The final was marred by a massive crash including Team Jumbo-Visma’s Jonas Vingegaard. The Dane did finish the stage, but he was suffering from a lot of pain in his collarbone. Further examination has to make clear whether the Dane can continue the race tomorrow.

“It was not the best day for us”, sports director Frans Maassen explained. “Jonas is suffering from a lot of pain in his collarbone since his crash. Further examination has to make clear how bad the injuries are. Danny didn’t have his best day on the bike, after which he was unable to sprint. On to tomorrow. New day, new opportunities.”
