Strong Bouwman shows himself in Clásica San Sebastian

A strong Koen Bouwman has shown himself in the Clásica San Sebastian. The Dutchman was part of the early breakaway of eight riders. Sepp Kuss climbed along with the best for a long time and eventually finished in twenty-fifth place.

Laurens De Plus, the intended leader of Team Jumbo-Visma, hadn’t yet fully recovered from the Tour de France and abandoned the race. George Bennett wasn’t able to start due to illness.

“We had hoped and also expected that we could compete in the final of the race with Laurens”, sports director Merijn Zeeman explained. “Koen, Sepp and Floris did well. For them it was the first race after a long altitude training period in Austria. Sepp lasted for a long time, but we were unable to leave a mark in the final. That’s a pity.”
