Team Jumbo-Visma shows unity in second stage Valencia

Team Jumbo-Visma has shown unity in the second stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. In the stage in and around Alicante, the entire team rode in support of Dylan Groenewegen. The top sprinter had to relinquish on the last climb, after which he could return with the help of his teammates. Subsequently, the Dutchman was unable to get in position for his sprint. Tony Martin retained the third place in the overall standings.

Sports director Sierk-Jan de Haan was happy with the appearance of his team despite the missed sprint opportunity. “Of course you always want to win as an athlete, but it is also about the process we are involved in. Today, we have shown that the team are racing as a unity and that everyone is racing for each other. I admire it.”

“Dylan had to let go on the last climb but was able to return with the help of the entire team. Unfortunately, that effort proved too much to play a significant role in the final. But what the team has shown today, gives confidence for the coming days. On Sunday in Valencia there will be a new chance”, De Haan concluded.
