Teunissen sprints to fifth place in Valencia’s third stage
Mike Teunissen has finished fifth in the third stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. The 26-year-old Dutch rider managed to get in the mix in the sprint of a reduced peloton after a difficult stage with a lot of altitude metres.
“It was a very difficult stage, but with a few guys we wanted to try to get a good result here”, Teunissen said. “In the end, Koen Bouwman and myself survived the climbs in the final. In the sprint, I didn’t have much energy left and I also didn’t get through the last few corners in a proper way. As a result, I couldn’t really sprint for the first places. But this fifth place isn’t bad after all.”
