Tour de France || Stage 1 || Lille → Lille || 05-07-2025
Information about the stage
Distance: 184.9 km
Type: Flat
The Tour kicks off in the north, in the heart of Hauts-de-France, with a stage seemingly tailor-made for the sprinters. Riders depart from Lille and make a wide loop through the rolling Northern French countryside. Along the way, they encounter several familiar climbs from classics like Gent-Wevelgem and the Four Days of Dunkirk, including Mont Cassel and Mont Noir. These are short fourth-category climbs but enough to split the peloton on this first day.
The wind might play a decisive role. The wide-open plains around Bailleul and Hazebrouck are perfect for echelons. Teams with general classification ambitions must stay alert one moment of inattention in a crosswind could cost a minute. The final kilometers in Lille are flat and fast.

Tour de France || Stage 2 || Lauwin-Planque → Boulogne-sur-Mer || 06-07-2025
Information about the stage
Distance: 209.1 km
Type: Hilly
A very different rhythm on day two. From the flat industrial town of Lauwin-Planque, the peloton winds west toward the steep cliffs of the Opal Coast. It’s a long and treacherous stage. The first 100 km are relatively calm, but the landscape changes toward the end into a patchwork of short, steep climbs.
In the final 30 km, riders face a series of punchy ascents. The Côte de Saint-Étienne-au-Mont demands everything, and a final brutal wall awaits in Boulogne: nearly 800 meters at an average of 7%, with spikes over 10%. A stage for explosive riders: Van der Poel, Pidcock, or Alaphilippe could shine here.

Tour de France || Stage 3 || Valenciennes → Dunkerque || 07-07-2025
Information about the stage
ThDistance: 178.3 km
Type: Flat to slightly hilly
Another sprinter’s day? Possibly, but this transitional stage is deceptive. From Valenciennes, the riders head north to the Belgian border and then to the North Sea coast. Mid-stage lies Mont Cassel over 2 km with cobbles and an average 4% gradient. Not a major climb, but enough to shake up the group.
The main danger comes from the wind. The flat polders between Gravellines and Dunkerque are notorious for crosswinds. If it blows, the peloton will split. The technical final in Dunkerque includes roundabouts, but the final straight is wide for a pure sprint.
