Media roundup: Ferrand-Prévot shines in international press

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot made history on Sunday for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. The French rider, who had already claimed Paris-Roubaix earlier in her comeback season, proved to be by far the strongest in the Tour de France Femmes. With her performance, she delivered the first overall victory in a Grand Tour for the women's team of the yellow and black formation. Her phenomenal achievement hasn’t gone unnoticed—she now features on multiple international front pages.

French media

After a long wait, France finally has a homegrown Tour winner—and the media certainly took notice. Ferrand-Prévot graced the full front page of several newspapers. In L'Équipe, the rider from the yellow and black team was prominently featured, with a nod to her remarkable achievement of winning the Tour in her very first appearance: “une performance incroyable.” Other French outlets, such as Le Parisien, also ran out of superlatives to describe the performance of their national hero.

President Emmanuel Macron

But it wasn’t just the French media who were impressed by Ferrand-Prévot’s performance. President Emmanuel Macron, a cycling enthusiast through and through, was overjoyed as well. He initially congratulated her with a phone call, and later shared his praise on Instagram for our rider’s achievements. "At the top! Pauline Ferrand-Prévot is writing history in the Tour de France. She turned effort into a brilliant victory, and a challenge into national pride. Well done, champion!" said Macron.

Belgian media

Ferrand-Prévot’s triumphant ride was also followed with great admiration by our southern neighbors. Several Belgian media outlets covered her victory. Het Nieuwsblad ran the headline: "The French superstar has now made her final childhood dream come true." Meanwhile, Sporza praised her performance with: "France bows to 'la reine': how Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has now completed cycling with her childhood dream."

Dutch media

Ferrand-Prévot’s overall victory is also receiving plenty of attention in the home country of Team Visma | Lease a Bike. Het Parool headlined: "Pauline Ferrand-Prévot finally makes her dream come true and wins the Tour", praising her as "the queen of mountain biking", according to the Dutch newspaper. Meanwhile, de Volkskrant and Trouw focused mainly on how impressive it is that the French rider knows exactly how to peak at the right moment.

Spanish media

The victory is also receiving significant attention in Spain. The Spanish newspaper El País spoke with admiration about her versatility and mental resilience, noting how completely she controlled the race. The newspaper Diario AS was equally full of praise, stating that Ferrand-Prévot has now completed her legendary palmarès.

American media

Finally, the phenomenal achievement is not only receiving attention in Europe, but also in the United States. On the front page of The Wall Street Journal, Ferrand-Prévot shines. The American newspaper describes how the Frenchwoman has reached a new major milestone.
