Versatile Jorgenson joins Team Jumbo-Visma

Versatile Jorgenson joins Team Jumbo-Visma

Matteo Jorgenson has joined Team Jumbo-Visma for the next three years. He is looking forward to fighting for victory with his new teammates.

The 24-year-old American has been a professional rider for four years and can compete in almost all road racing disciplines. Last season he showed his qualities in the spring classics, finishing fourth in the E3 Saxo Classic and ninth in the Tour of Flanders. He also finished second in the final classification of the Tour de Romandie and eighth in Paris-Nice.

His versatility was a key reason for Team Jumbo-Visma to sign Jorgenson. "We are thrilled that he has chosen to join us", sportive director Merijn Zeeman says. "He has developed very well over the past few seasons and has shown in several areas that he is one of the best riders in the WorldTour peloton. We look forward to working with him. Together we want to get even better."

"Many riders who have joined this team have gone on to perform better"

Jorgenson is motivated to compete for victories with his new team. "Being part of a team that rides for victory in all races is what I am most excited about", the American says. "Whether for myself or a teammate: fighting for the win is what motivates me."

The winner of the last Tour of Oman expects to take the next step in his development with Team Jumbo-Visma. "Based on the conversations we had, I think I fit in very well with this team. I have given this decision much thought and look forward to being part of Team Jumbo-Visma. Many riders who have joined this team have gone on to perform better. That says a lot about the team. I want to get the best out of myself and my career, which is possible here."
