Goszczurny and Mernik stay one extra year with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development
The Polish rider Patryk Goszczurny and Slovenian rider Sven Mernik have extended their stay with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development until the end of 2027.
Goszczurny moved up in 2025 from JEGG-SKIL-DJR, the junior team Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development works closely together with. In his first year at U23 level, the Polish all-rounder proved to be a very reliable rider. This season he has already shown himself in races with the WorldTeam, where he returned home from the Tour of Oman with the jersey for the most combative rider.
“I’m very happy to stay with the team for another year. This really feels like a second family to me,” said Goszczurny. “I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve already been given and the steps I’ve made in areas such as nutrition, tactics, training, mental approach, and much more. That’s why I believe this is the right place for me to continue developing.”
Head of Development Robbert de Groot praised Goszczurny’s mental strength and motivation: “Patryk is an incredibly reliable rider you can always count on. In addition, he is very eager to learn, coachable, and he grabs every opportunity he gets with both hands. A good example is the Tour of Oman, where he was given a free role in a professional race due to the circumstances and then went all-out for the most combative rider jersey and won it. We have a lot of confidence in him and look forward to continuing our collaboration.”
In addition to Goszczurny, Mernik has also extended his contract by one year. The young Slovenian is in his first season with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development, but immediately made a strong impression during the winter. Mernik, who initially had a one-year contract, has now extended his deal until the end of 2027.
