Veenhoven sees Copenhagen Sprint as ideal step in her development

Veenhoven sees Copenhagen Sprint as ideal step in her development

On June 21, the very first edition of the Copenhagen Sprint is set to take place. Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women will travel to this brand-new WorldTour race in and around the Danish capital with ambition. We look ahead with Nienke Veenhoven.

The Copenhagen Sprint is making its debut on the WorldTour calendar this year. The riders will face 150 flat kilometers from Roskilde to Copenhagen. After a few local laps in the capital, a sprint opportunity awaits the fastest women in the peloton.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women will line up with a young, motivated squad. One of the key riders is Nienke Veenhoven. The 21-year-old Dutch sprinter, who recently extended her contract through 2028, has already secured some great results this season. She is eagerly anticipating another chance to prove herself at the highest level.

"The Copenhagen Sprint will be another valuable step in my learning process"

Nienke Veenhoven

"I can tell I’ve already made progress compared to last year," says Veenhoven. "It’s great to have the team’s trust as I continue to develop. The Copenhagen Sprint will be another valuable step in that learning process. I feel like I’m becoming more confident in bunch sprints, so I’m really looking forward to it."

“We’re starting with a strong group,” Veenhoven adds. “I’m aiming for a top-five finish, but more importantly, I hope we can deliver a solid team performance. As always, we’ll go for the best possible result. If we can finish the day feeling like we gave it our all, I’ll be satisfied.”

Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women’s lineup for the Copenhagen Sprint: Nienke Veenhoven, Martina Fidanza, Margaux Vigié, Imogen Wolff, Linda Riedmann, and Sophie von Berswordt-Wallrabe.
