Team Visma | Lease a Bike speeds to fourth place in Paris-Nice team time trial

Team Visma | Lease a Bike just missed out on a podium place in the Paris-Nice team time trial. The yellow and black formation was beaten by INEOS Grenadiers, Lidl-Trek and Decathlon CMA CGM Team.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike left the starting ramp as the sixth team and set the provisional fastest time on arrival in Pouilly-sur-Loire. The seven-man train, with Vingegaard as leader, stopped the clock after an effort of 26 minutes and 55 seconds. In addition to Vingegaard, Davide Piganzoli and Bruno Armirail also finished in the same time. That turned out not to be the winning time, as INEOS Grenadiers was ultimately fifteen seconds faster.

"We have a strong team and will do everything we can in the coming days to make up some time."

Jonas Vingegaard

"Of course we had hoped for more, but this is what it is", Vingegaard said afterwards. "It may not have been our best day as a team, but nevertheless we rode a strong time. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the win", said Vingegaard, who is seventeen seconds behind classification leader Juan Ayuso in the standings.

"We would have preferred to have a lead, but the differences are not huge. We have a strong team and will do everything we can in the coming days to make up some time. I feel good, so I'm looking forward to next days", said a motivated Vingegaard.

Sports director Marc Reef looks back on a good team performance. "As a team, we did everything we could to win the time trial. Unfortunately, we didn't succeed. In the end, three teams were better. That's the honest story", Reef said. "Tomorrow, the next part of Paris-Nice starts with a difficult uphill finish."
