Viktória Chladoňová completes the double with a solo victory at the Slovak road championship

Viktória Chladoňová has claimed the Slovak national road race title. Earlier this week, the talented 18‑year‑old from Team Visma | Lease a Bike already secured the national championship in the individual time trial. "This victory means so much to me."

The Slovak women were presented with a 100‑kilometre hilly course. Last Thursday, Chladoňová had already won the national title in the individual time trial. In the road race, the 18‑year‑old was outstanding as well. She flawlessly finished off a brilliant solo.

“The course included several short climbs, and that’s where I took the opportunity to attack,” Chladoňová reflects. “In the penultimate lap I accelerated on one of those hills. That move caused an initial selection among the favorites. In the final lap, I accelerated again with twelve kilometers to go and ultimately rode solo to the finish.”

"It’s special to win two national titles in just a few days"

“This is a victory that means so much to me,” she adds. “It’s special to win two national titles in just a few days. It’s, of course, the first national championship I’ve won at the professional level. The championship took place near my birthplace, which makes it even more beautiful.”
