No success for Team Jumbo-Visma in fourth stage of Benelux Tour

Team Jumbo-Visma has not been able to finish the fourth stage of the Benelux Tour in a succesful way. In the final kilometres towards Ardooie, the sprint train fell apart. Dylan Groenewegen had to come from far away and finished ninth.

Three riders got a free ride from the peloton right after the start. The sprinter team kept control and caught the leading group at 55 kilometres from the finish. Subsequent attacks by Mike Teunissen and others were caught as well. In the hectic last kilometres, Groenewegen lost the wheel of his teammates.

Sports director Merijn Zeeman of Team Jumbo-Visma was positive. “It was a chaotic sprint final. That is also what Ardooie is known for. A lot went well, except for Dylan’s sprint. In the end, you do all the teamwork to get the sprinter off to a good start. We keep working very hard to perfect that. Tomorrow we go into the hills. We will have to wait and see if it will be a sprint. We will also see other riders there.”
