Promising start Team Visma | Lease a Bike in Tour of Norway Women

Team Visma | Lease a Bike experienced a strong first day in the Tour of Norway Women. On the steep final climb to Heia, Eva van Agt, Viktória Chladoňová and Rosita Reijnhout rode with the best for a long time, but had to acknowledge their superiority to Justine Ghekiere. Van Agt finished in sixth place, Chladoňová and Reijnhout finished tenth and eleventh.

In the first stage of the Norwegian stage race, the riders faced the same climb three times. On the second passage the peloton was thinned out and Van Agt, Chladoňová and Reijnhout showed they were among the best twenty climbers. The select group went together towards the final climb.

Van Agt held on for a long time on the steep slopes, but had no answer to Ghekiere's attack. Just behind the winner, she fought her way to sixth place. "I got everything out of it. I just have to be satisfied with this", Van Agt looked back on the stage. "The race went according to plan. We were in control the whole time and Linda and Margaux were very attentive to the attacks from the peloton. It was super nice that they took on that work."

"We knew it was going to be tough on the penutimate climb."

Eva van Agt

According to Van Agt, it was not difficult to predict where the stage would explode. "We knew it was going to be tough on the penultimate climb. There the peloton broke into pieces and there were still three of us in front. AG Insurance kept the pace high, putting us in a seat to the final climb. From there it was very fair: the strongest won. We all finished where we belong."
