Reijnhout eighth in GP Oetingen

Reijnhout eighth in GP Oetingen

Rosita Reijnhout crossed the line in eighth place in GP Oetingen. The Dutchwoman showed herself at the front several times, but on the final climb of the Bergstraat, she had to acknowledge Lorena Wiebes as superior. Behind Reijnhout, Linda Riedmann sprinted to tenth place.

The fourth edition of the Belgian cobbled classic experienced a swift opening phase. Due to the high tempo, cracks quickly appeared in the peloton. Behind the three leaders, who chose to attack at 70 kilometers from the finish, the riders of the yellow-black formation showed themselves several times. Fifteen kilometers before the finish, there was a regrouping between the leading group and the depleted peloton. On the last passage of the Bergstraat, nineteen-year-old Reijnhout fell just short of the best. Wiebes eventually sprinted to victory.

"The riders showed themselves well during the race"

Jan Boven

"The plan was to join the breakaway and ride a final with Nienke Veenhoven," team leader Jan Boven said of today's tactics. "Early on, three strong breakaway riders managed to take the lead. As a result, the peloton also went hard, making it a tough race. The riders showed themselves well during the race. Nienke was in a good position in the last lap but unfortunately could not keep up with the best. Still, it is super nice to see the development she has already made."

Ultimately, Boven reflects on today with satisfaction and is proud of the team's performance. "We knew SD Worx-Protime would be very strong today. The team ran a very good race. Rosita, Linda, and Nienke were still there in the final due to strong work from the team. Ultimately, we can look back on this tough day with an eighth and tenth place. This gives confidence for the next races."
